At A Mate For All, we bring the heart of family into everything we do. That’s why we offer a paid work experience program where our mates gain real-world skills in a supportive, family-like environment.
We know from personal experience that not every child, brother, or sister gets the opportunity to learn how to work.
That’s why at Roma Capoccia, our authentic Italian restaurant, our mates learn hospitality, customer service, kitchen skills, and money handling. All while having fun and building confidence.
This program doesn’t just teach skills, it creates a sense of belonging. Every mate learns that no matter their pace or experience, they have step-by-step guidance from a community that is accepting, loving, and treats everyone like family.
Here’s a sneak peek at what you’ll be doing:
Bringing Coffee Orders: Practice communication and customer service in a real setting by serving meals and drinks to our friendly customers.
Friendly Chats & Teamwork: Work alongside others and build confidence through conversation. Learning how to collaborate not only helps in the workplace but also in daily life!
Cleaning & Sweeping: Learn to keep a space neat and tidy; an important life skill. Sweep floors, wipe down tables, clean restrooms, and master mopping, sweeping, and sanitizing.
Making Pizza Boxes: Be part of the fun behind the scenes! Restock supplies, check ingredients, and refill essentials like salt and pepper.
Helping in the Kitchen: Get hands-on experience with simple prep tasks, including rolling arancini, weighing pasta, cutting parsley, brushing potatoes, and more!
Money Handling: Learn that with work comes pay! Our work experience program rewards your effort not only with a high five but also with an hourly rate.

We also know that some of our mates may find it challenging to work in a traditional workplace environment. That’s why we take the time to sit with you and find a way your child can engage in meaningful work that suits them.
Personal Experience:
“My brother Alessandro can get overwhelmed easily, and his attention span can be short. So, we created a way for him to earn money doing what he loves, animals and drawing them! We take his artwork and made books with his illustrations, we also print it on t-shirts, caps, and bags, giving him the opportunity to earn while pursuing his passion. Soon, we hope to share his creations at weekend markets too.”
